AHP 52 Week Photo Challenge ~ Week 48

Thanksgiving threw me off! I knew I was pushing it when I did the THANKSGIVING theme since it occurred on the week's deadline. I did get my photo posted to facebook and then....crickets. I forgot to give you guys the new theme for this week! I was close, but no cigar :-)

So I posted a photo of my family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. My husband and I hosted Thanksgiving this year, for the first time! I'm am proud to report we were successful and the day was fantastic!

So this week is a short one since I'm so late getting the theme posted so I'll make it an easy one!

The O'Connell Family- Albany New York Family Photography

I've said it before and I'll say it again, photographing old friends NEVER gets old! I love being invited into their homes, meeting their growing families, documenting memories for them and catching up. I really should count up the number of people I've photographed my from graduating class alone- not to mention other BCHS grads I knew from high school!!

So Mike and I went to Middle School and High School together- maybe even all the way back to Elementary School- but in my, a-hem, old age I can't remember back that far!!
Mike and his wife, Sandy, recently welcomed their second child to their family and asked me to come to their home to photograph them.

What a fine looking family!!
I love this photo so much and thinking back at the session we almost didn't even take this shot!

The session was great!! Their family is so sweet and I had a lot of fun capturing them- comfortable and natural right in their home- a perfect formula for great photos!

Their little guy warmed right up to my camera. A little help from some bits of chocolate and the promise of ice cream and he was the perfect model :-)

I absolutely adore this next shot- I'm totally going to recreate it with my own family and get it blown up HUGE for my family room!!

These next shots just melt my heart--they'll be bestest friends, I can tell!!

Fist bumpin' baby-- I LOVE it!!!

The sweetest little baby details!!

She was totally telling me she was boss...sticking her tongue out at me :-)

The baby's nursery was amazing-and so girly!!  I love the mirrors on the wall!

Thank you O'Connell Family for inviting me into your home to capture your sweet family!
Best wishes as a family of four!! :-)

AHP 52 Week Photo Challenge ~ Week 47

Last weeks "BORDER" theme was interesting. I actually had a few preconceived ideas in my head for my photo but I wasn't sure which direction I would go in. I thought this was fitting though, since we are in the process of redecorating our home, still, since we moved in 18 months ago. We have removed wallpaper, ripped up rose colored carpet, thrown away billowing custom floral drapes and other such decor left over from the previous owner. We are still a far way off from having everything the way we like it, but we're making progress!!

Here's a shot of some of the wall paper (with boarder) that we have been dealing with. I have to look at that hideousness every single time I use the stairs. Ugh!!

I'm picking an obvious one for this week folks. Take photos of your Thanksgiving, of your family, of your memories- that's your homework!! I want to see those Thanksgiving photos!!

Empire State Plaza Family Session- The Nevins Family- Albany New York Family Photography

The Nevins Family is no stranger to my camera--I have been photographing the Nevins Triplets since their first birthday! Each time we get together for a photo session we have picked a location that is different from the last place. We've used Five Rivers, The Sage Campus in Troy, their own home and this year we picked the Empire State Plaza!

We totally lucked out for the session this year- who would have believed that an afternoon in November would be so warm and sunny! We had tons of fun walking the Plaza, enjoying the afternoon and catching up!

I kept thinking to myself- I want to take these same shots of the two girls, in 10-15-20 years.
How amazing would that be!!!???

Thanks again to the Nevins Family for allowing me to continue to document your beautiful growing family!

AHP 52 Week Photo Challenge ~ Week 46

So while my "PLAY" photo from last week was really quite work related for me it just goes to show that I do truly love what I do! I pour a little bit of me into each and every photo I create, I love going to "work" and I am thankful I have the ability to have my own business and pursue this dream.

Do what you love, love what you do!

Maternity Photography- Nicole and Shawn

It was actually pure luck that this session even occurred. Nicole was due about 3 weeks after she contacted me. She had a photosession scheduled with another photographer and at the last minute the photog cancelled their session!!
AHHHHH!!
How would she find another photographer with such short notice!?!
Luckily for both of us, when Nicole contacted me one Monday evening I had an opening for the following Friday. She grabbed the session and everything beautifully fell into place. PHEW!

So why lucky for me?? When you see Nicole, you'll understand. She's GORGEOUS!! Beautiful maternity photo sessions are one of my favorite types of sessions. A mix between the cute belly bump and the sexy momma to be!

I am a huge lover of natural light photography but you gotta learn to grow- so we started with something a little new and different "in studio".

Then we moved to the other side of my house where the beautiful afternoon sun filters through the trees and into my large living room windows. There isn't much more beautiful that that!

Good luck Nicole and Shawn- it's just a few more days now!! Congratulations on the new baby!!
